The new products, including Meridian 258 and 857 amplifiers and the 218 zone controller, were received positively by dealers at the Meridian booth and a large number of pre-orders were received at the show.
The Meridian 258 is a dedicated rack-mount eight channel power amplifier that can be integrated with any existing passive loudspeaker system and is suitable for a range of applications. It delivers >100W per channel into 4Ω and is only 1U high. This high-performance cold-running Class D amplifier is manufactured in the UK and carries a five year manufacturer’s warranty.
Meridian also showcased the new 857 Reference two-channel power amplifier delivering 500W per channel into 4Ω. This amplifier is bridgeable to >1.5KW and is available as a dedicated rack-mount variant that incorporates a new design based on extensive research. The Meridian 857 has an incredibly low noise floor and has been specifically designed to work with any audio product.
The final product previewed by Meridian is the new 218 zone controller that combines digital and analogue inputs and outputs. It’s Sooloos/MQA enabled and suitable for a wide range of distributed audio applications from single zone to multi zone use. This 1U-high controller can be rack, shelf, VESA or wall mounted and has control features including IP and IR, easily integrated with third party control systems.
Meridian has also announced updates to its complimentary design and specification service that helps dealers integrate these innovative products into designs for home theatres. Dealers simply send a plan of the room or home where they’re installing the system and Meridian will return a schematic that details where to position speakers, audio panels, projector and screen. The service can also now show how Meridian components can interface with third-party control options and existing audio and video distribution systems.
